Hormones trigger teen acne by causing increased oil-production by the oil glands, which also causes sticky skin cells inside the pores. The combination of oil (sebum), sticky cells, and trapped bacteria (C. acnes lives in your skin) causes swelling, inflammation, and a mini explosion. Hello, acne. That’s why it’s important to keep those pores clean and free of the sticky cells (so the oil can’t get trapped). This takes maintenance, patience, and a routine.
Friction and sweat make teen acne worse, so playing sports combined with wearing masks and helmets may trigger acne. It doesn’t mean you need to stop your sports (please don’t), but getting in a good routine will help make your skin strong (that’s what we call a strong barrier) and able to withstand the irritation caused by friction and sweat. That’s also why we say not to overscrub the skin.

Yes, just because you are a teen and your skin is more resilient and strong doesn’t mean you can skip moisturizing. Keeping the skin moisturized will protect the precious skin barrier and help keep breakouts at bay. Your skin can’t fight off breakouts if it’s dehydrated. And, yes, even oily skin needs to be hydrated and moisturized. We recommend using our Spotless Peptide Serum and if you need more hydration, you can layer your favorite lightweight, oil-free moisturizer on top.

Yes, teen skin is different. It tends to be more oily and breakouts like to favor the forehead (where most of the oil glands live) and cheeks. Young skin can’t handle the rich, oil-based serums and heavy moisturizing products that are made for adult skin. Many adult skincare products also contain added ingredients and chemicals that may cause irritation and harm to young teen skin. The good news is that teen skin is more resilient and has a quicker cell turnover than adult skin, so blemishes should resolve and heal quickly.

You can use these products alone or in combination with your other favorite brands, but we suggest trying them as a 3-4 step system. Try cleansing gently once or twice a day with the Clarity Cloud Cleanser, then use the Acne Clearing Wipes, and finish with a drop of the Spotless Peptide Serum. The Pore Shrink Mask can be used a couple times a week. Feel free to add another oil-free moisturizer if needed, and don’t forget your favorite facial sunscreen.
This Fawn Clarity Cloud Cleanser is targeted towards troubled skin that struggles with breakouts. It contains salicylic and glycolic acid, two potent ingredients to help control and prevent flareups.My daughter still struggles to keep her breakouts at bay. After using this cleanser for a little bit, she said she hasn’t experienced any major breakouts but the true test will be over time.The cleanser pumps out as a soft foam and covers the face thoroughly. It’s not harsh or stripping. It does contain an herbal fragrance though - like lavender oil and tea tree - that she is not a fan of.Overall, this cleanser could be for almost anyone who suffers from hormonal, troubled skin. The only issue could be a sensitivity to the smell but some may like it.
My husband, at age 61, still has skin that boarders on the oily. He is really enjoying this "teen" cleanser for his complexion, helping his skin to feel more balanced. I thought I would try it too since I have noticed increased breakouts. I am 52. I appreciate the gentle and natural ingredients. I also appreciate the glycolic acid to help with skin turnover. However, for me, this formulation doesn't work so well because it is fragranced and I don't enjoy the fragrance so much. WIth that being said, my husband is usually more prone to reject a product due to its fragrance, but he loves this cleanser. So the frangrance is really a subjective thing. The cleanser itself does what it claims to do. It balances and smoothes the skin and combats the bacteria that creates pimples.
Product looks really cute. The branding is fun and the colors appealed to my teen. The type is kind of cheeky and fun. The product cleaned well and felt fresh. The fragrance was not what I was expecting at all. It was very masculine minty/rosemary smell and very overpowering. The pump and dispense size was good, and it worked well the scent just wasn't what I wanted and it really lingered.
I’ve had oily skin my whole life, so I am always looking for products that actually help. This cloud cleanser has been great. I have used it every night this week before bed, and my skin already feels cleaner with fewer breakouts. It leaves my face fresh without being harsh or irritating.The dispenser pumps out a soft foam that is easy to wash with. There is a chemical scent, but it is not overpowering. The bottle feels sturdy and full, so it should last a good while. Since it contains salicylic acid, it also helps unclog pores and cut down on blackheads. Overall, it is a gentle foaming cleanser that is still strong enough to handle my oily skin at the end of the day.
I got this for my teenager really but I did give it a whirl myself first so 2 opinions coming in hot.Overall it worked well for me, being formulated for teens I think it was a bit too aggressive at removing oils for me but that's a good thing for the products intended use case. The dispenser does a great job of giving you a lathery foam and while it does have some of that typical face wash chemically smell the tea tree oil and lavender notes are prominent and make it pleasant to use.My teenager with very picky skin has used it for the past couple days morning and night and has really enjoyed it. It has made their skin much more natural and does a great job removing oils and dirt from the day.Overall this is a great entry into a competitive market and if you're at all looking for options for teens with hard to please skin this is a great option for you!

My teenage daughter has some acne struggles and while it’s mostly under control, she still breaks out on her chin and forehead.The first time she used this face wash, she said it stung a bit on the inflamed pimples, while she used it, but was ok after rinsing. She says it gives the kind of clean that feels squeaky clean and not at all slimy.She’s easing into using the cleanser daily, but for now the every other day is working. Her skin is looking more bright and clear.I think this is a pretty powerful face wash, so sensitive skin should ease into it. I have no doubt if my daughter used it daily right off the bat, it would dry her out and cause more inflammation.It’s a pricey face wash, but might be the missing piece to the puzzle for us.
The foam is light, rinses clean, and doesn't sting around the nose or chin - great for a wash with salicylic acid. It keeps my T-zone from shining by midday after about a week using every other day (for me, the salicylic acid is a bit too harsh for daily use). There is a noticeable medicinal scent - which I don't mind, but if you’re sensitive to fragrance, be aware. The pump dispenses a good amount, so the bottle should last.
My pre-teen daughter wanted to start a skin care routine and I wanted to be sure I got her products that would really help her skin. This cleanser is great for getting rid of excess facial oil and helping to prevent breakouts. It foams well and makes her skin feel very clean and refreshed. There is a mild scent, but it is a nice pleasant smell. The cleanser doesn't cause any irritation of her skin. This is a perfect cleaner for anyone prone to oily skin or acne.
this cleanser does a great job at cleansing makeup and excess oils off the skin. If you’re looking for a cleanser that does what a cleanser needs to do to keep away breakouts and help with texture to keep skin soft and smooth this is a great pick especially for teens. I’m in college but this works great as i’m constantly stressed and this helps keep my skin clear when my hormones and stress catch up to my skin. I do have dry skin and it’s a bit drying but as long as you follow up it up with a hydrating toner and moisturizer, you’re good!

You can tell a dermatologist made this one, it has the "just right" ratio of acne-treatment actives in it. My teen was using Cetaphil before, which was fine—it kept her skin clean but it didn't do it any favors to improve her complexion. This cleanser healed her skin and quietly improved it dramatically, without any of the drama. Just in time for the first day of school.
